Stanley - The Integra Mascot MAT is a form of manual therapy that looks at muscle tightness as a form of protection in the body.
Weak or inhibited muscles can create the need for other muscles to tighten up in order to help stabilize the joints.
MAT gets to the root of pain and injury by addressing muscle weakness (the cause) rather than muscle tightness (the symptom).

  • Identifies and corrects muscle imbalance
  • Improved mobility, addressing underlying causes of muscle tightness
  • Increased range of motion, with joint stability
  • Helps to restore 'normal' body/postural alignment
  • Reduction in the risk of injury
  • Reproducible system of checks and balances
  • Why is it different?

The primary goal of Muscle Activation Techniques is to resolve inhibition within the muscular system. While most soft-tissue treatments and traditional personal training models look for and treat muscle tightness, MAT see tightness as a protective mechanism to protect from instability. In essence, MAT looks for the cause of tightness.

    The results?

MAT works to increase the stability and mobility of the joints by restoring the proprioceptive sensitivity of the muscle spindles within the muscles being treated. Resulting in the opportunity for:

  • Increased range of motion and strength/stability of joints
  • Decreased pain
  • Creation of a mechanically and neurologically advantageous environment for healing.
